We are planning on getting chickens this spring/summer. It will be the first time for us with chickens, but we started buying fresh eggs a while ago, and can't imagine going back to store bought. It's all in the planning stages now, since we have to wait till the ground is not frozen here in NH before we can begin building a coop. I also have a garden and plan to expand that, as well, so the chickens will be good for that, as well.
We just want eggs, no meat, and are classing the chickens as pets. Hens only, can't have a rooster. I've got a few books and have been reading and researching a lot! Whew! Info overload right now, let me tell you. Glad I found this forum, as I will most likely have a ton of questions as we get more of an idea what we are going to do. We also have a few friends who have chickens so we're picking their brains as well.
