New here (and to chickens!)

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If the new Silkie is the only one, that makes things even more difficult. A single bird is harder to integrate than multiple and birds that look vastly different than the others makes it harder still.
LOTS of space, resources and time lead to a successful integration.

Hi....two months ago my daughter brought home a chicken she found on the highway. We decided to keep “her” and get a coop/run. We bought 3 more chickens so that one would have a flock. Surprise! Turned out to be a roo. I found a good farm for him. Now I have three 5 mo. old pullets and decided to adopt a 5 mo. old silkie yesterday. It’s been rough with them accepting her. How long does it take? I have 2 Wyandottes, a Leg Bar, and the new silkie. They hate her :-(

Welcome to BackYardChickens! So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people!

Hi and welcome to BYC! We're glad you joined us! Do all of the other chickens pick on the new one? Since she hopped the fence maybe try putting her in a wire dog crate for a few days. Good luck with the integration. :fl
Hi! All is much better today. They are getting along just fine. Thank you!!
