Hi! As you can see from the title I am completely new to chickens, although I have been wanting to get some ever since a few years ago. I'm very excited that I am finally able to get them this year!

Currently I have no chickens. But I already have a list of the breeds I'm going to order. Here it is if anyone is interested:

2 Black Giants

2 Barred Rocks

2 Light Brahmas or Buff Rocks (Which one would you choose...?)

2 Black Austrolorps

2 Silver Laced Wyandottes (my username....)

It's the best I can do to squeeze all the variety I can into an order of ten hens, without getting only one of each breed (although I have tempted to do that

).

I am planning on buying hatching eggs... and hoping for the best!

I can't wait 'till I get chickens!!

Thank you all very much! I still do need an opinion on my list, though. Which do you think is better: Light Brahmas or Buff Rocks? It's too hard to decide for me. I like the Buff Rocks for their color, but I also like the Brahmas because of how big, quiet, and fluffy-looking they are (I like fluffy chickens!). Which do you think you would choose?

I have three buff Brahmas (although all my chickens are bantams) and they are big fat fluffy girls! They have a roo in with them that is twice their age (a black Cochin frizzle) and they are all bigger than him. They are in my "fluffy footed pen" with the silkies, frizzles, and d'Uccles.

Oh... A Buff Brahma would be great! Both Golden colored and Fluffy! But wait... don't they only come in bantam size? Are their any standard-size Buff Brahmas?
