Hi. I'm DaNel
I live in Middle TN and I raise Miniature Horses. In May my husband and I decided to get Chickens of our own. Our neighbor had some and they came into our yard and ate our bugs. We loved it. But... we didn't get any eggs out of it. So we started building a new coop. My husband goes big. So we have a 8x16 coop. The neighbor about that time got out of chickens and gave us 3. Two roosters and a hen. They also gave us two Royal Palm Turkeys. So we now foul owners.
After the coop was built I went the local hatchery and bought some bantam birds and a few or some different breeds. My husband also bought 5 Barred Rocks from the local 4H auction this August.
Next year I plan to hatch a few out to do the process from scratch. My husband already plans to build at least 2 more coops. One for the Turkeys (we didn't have a choice but to put them with the chickens as we were not expecting them and we do know it is best to keep them separate). And one more to move the free range birds to. We plan to keep the current coop for the bantams.
I look forward to meeting other foul people and learning from everyone.
