Hello I am new to this site and also new to the chicken world. We do not have chickens yet, or a coop. We have just decided this is something we think we would like to do. I am looking for information on where to start and how to take care of them. We live on Cape Cod so it does get very cold and we do get snow....sometimes a lot. What would the best coop be for us? Which type of chickens? How to feed, clean, etc. I have no idea! Thank you in advanced for all your help!

It is very nice to see someone begin with research, instead of a box of chicks. Congratulations on starting out right and Welcome to BYC. Two Crows has already pointed you in the right direction.

Don't make the same mistake I did. I planned for egg production (what my family could use), but did not plan for future production. Therefore, I do not have room to bring along new chicks as my existing flock's production begins to slow. I'll be building a new coop again when my existing coop/tractor becomes an old folks home!
