New here! Anyone use Welp?

With my first batch of chicks I used Cackle and while all the chicks were alive they did not send the splash cochins I ordered. They said they ended up not having enough for my order which is fine but they never called to see if I wanted to sub in a different breed or anything.

I was looking into Meyers but after reading reviews and other"s personal experiences I decided to go with Welp. I ordered 10 BLRW pullets, 2 BLRW roosters, 10 assorted brown layers, and 5 assorted white layers. They are due to arrive Aug 29. Anyone use Welp before? I'm in WI and I know Welp is in IA but that they use different places to ship from like NM and MN. My guess is that since they only have the meat birds in IA that my birds will be coming from MN but obviously that is just a guess. Has anyone ordered the assorted layers before? Were they really assorted or basically one breed?

I am in New Mexico.

It is MY IMPRESSION that WELP Hatchery actually "specializes" in MEAT-CHICKENS such as Cornish X.

I believe that their "other chickens" come from other hatcheries....such as PRIVETT Hatchery in Portales, New Mexico (which supplies many Feed Stores with chicks). So...IF your chicks will come from Minnesota...as you suspect.....perhaps you should check to see WHAT hatcheries are in Minnesota.

Thank you! I looked into Stromberg's and they do have the same varieties I ordered except they are much more expensive. I'm trying to do some research and find out where specifically they ship from.

I live in Colorado, I order a LOT of pullets. I have had the best luck with Ideal and Cackle. Welp and Privett would be my next choices.

My meaties were from Welp. I was very impressed with them, no complaints at all.

My first order was from Welp's. I didn't order the assorted layers, but I was pleased with my experience with them. Shipping was timely, they all arrived healthy, breeds are correct, and all are still all thriving at 5 weeks.
One of the white egg layer pullets turned out to be little roo, but I understand that can happen.

I've had great success with them as well. No complaints here either.

We purchased Salmon Faverolles and Khaki Campbells from Welp, they are now 5 weeks old and doing great! Working with Welp was wonderful, their website is sort of janky but once I got them on the phone they were great. Had one of each breed DOA in the box, but that's not their fault and it was honestly less than I was expecting (we ordered 30+ birds). All of the remaining birds are doing great (well, except for the ducks my dogs tried to "play" with....but that was my own dang fault), the pullets have feathered out to what I understand as a really high quality for hatchery Faverolles, and the ducks are HUGE.

They had lower prices than almost any other hatchery I checked, higher survival than any of the orders I've placed with other hatcheries in the last few years, higher quality of purebred chick than I've seen from other hatcheries, and they shipped for free. The morning my chicks came in to the post office, the lady from Welp called me (!) to make sure they had come in OK. I told her two were DOA (in the context of "wow! only two doa!") and she refunded me without me asking.

I will *definitely* order from them again. And probably soon, since I'm fair sure that the four remaining ducks are all actually drakes.
