I'm Jennifer. I live in N Mississippi, hoping to start my flock later this year. My daughter is graduating high school and living on campus next year, so we are going to have a little more freedom. That includes getting chickens, and growing more vegetables for market.

I don't have my own flock yet, because we haven't built our barn/shop. Most of my flock will be Welsummers if I have my way! I also plan to have some EE hens and maybe a few buffs. My mom has had buffs for years and I really like them.

I've always helped my folks with their chickens, but they are probably not going to replace their flock as it dies off. I just cannot buy eggs from the grocery store. I've been eating farm fresh eggs for so long it would feel sacrilegious. :D

glad you joined us!

Hi, I joined this thread because I am not new to chickens, I have had them around pretty much my whole life! Lucky me!
Right now me and my fam have eight hens, easter eggers, buffs, a sex link, RIR, and a wyandotte, as well as some baby call ducks
( eight more chicks coming in may, as well as 2 peachicks! Yay!)

I love chickens, and buy BYP magazine every month!

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
