Hi there!
I'm new here& have just about completed my first hatch...but I'm having issues with my last egg.
Others hatched on day 21.its now day 24 and the last still has not yet hatched.I've candles it every day since day 21 to see if she's/he's still alive.
the last couple days baby has been less active in the egg& since last night not barely moving at all. However, there were still sort of visible veins.so, this a.m I decided to open to see if baby is still alive& if not what happened.
I slowly at 8 am. Chipped a bit of air hole, I assumed because of a very white shriveled &dry inner membrane that baby was dead :( but I wet membrane with warm h20 to see better& baby moved! Its not moving much but is.the veins in inner membrane are still very large....
What do I do now?!?!
I'm afraid baby is too weak to get itself out!
It hadn't even pipped internally! I wrapped it in warm paper towel& increased humidity.
do I wait or help more?!?!
I've read all info on assisting but because it didn't pip yet, I'm wondering is it that its too weak or malpositioned to get out or just not ready?!?

HELP?!?

I would just let nature take its course. There is a reason that baby didn't hatch out on its own in the first place. Sometimes they are weak, underdeveloped or have some sort of malformation. When I have eggs that haven't hatched by day 24 or so, I either dispose of them immediately, or shut the incubator off for a day and then open them to see what's going on. Depends on my mood. It might seem like a cold way of doing things, but I have incubated enough eggs to know that sometimes they just can't hatch for some reason. I've assisted a few times, but the chick either died right away, or within a few days because it was too weak to survive in the first place. I've quit helping. Either way, I have a dead chicken.

Yes I'm sure there's are reason why it didn't. Just wasn't sure about the issue because some have said some will take until day 25.

Im still hoping it will come out!!!

I have had a chick hatch on day 25 and it was perfectly fine. And it hatched under a broody hen, not in an incubator. These things happen sometimes. By the sounds of it you are on the right track with your chick. Just keep the humidity up and keep an eye on those blood vessels. As long as you can see those the chick must stay put. Hopefully it will survive and complete the hatch. Good luck and
