Hello! FINALLY made and account here after years of reading and gathering info from this lovely forum. I think this is the most active chicken forum on the internet! Every time i'd google search something chicken related this is the first place that pops up

Bought my acreage in southern interior BC a few years ago, one of the primary reasons was the dream of having my own flock and this year its finally happened! Although some days the to-do list is never ending and overwhelming.. its been very rewarding, and I love the peace and quiet, having escaped from the big city.
ANYWAYS, onto more flock related things. Here is my small imgur album https://imgur.com/a/HomJaC2
The coop was about 85% finished before I got the babies. It started out as just a place for the ducks, but i got out of hand and made a chicken apartment up top. Its about 50"X50" on the inside and 6' in height (for the chicken area) The ducks are below the chickens, they have about 3' of headspace (slightly worried about this)
The fenced in area surrounding the coop is 40'x40' and includes a small pond that is constantly supplied by the extra run off from our well. I tried to place the coop somewhere its going to get some decent shade throughout the day as it gets quite hot here during the summer (+40 sometimes).
Future plans to run power to it and water from our water shed for chicken nipples (so i wont be hauling water in the winter, i dont expect the chickens will drink from the pond)
Picked up 7 chickens and 6 ducklings a month ago off someone I found on kijiji. 5 Wheaten americaunas, 2 black americaunas and 6 ancona ducklings. A gosling is in the works too (for protection as we dont have any dogs)
The ducks love the pond! although i started digging it out deeper so they've been a tad disappointing the past few days.
We also have 1 cat, that seems thankfully disinterested in the flock. I am an electrician by trade but im currently enjoying some extended time off this year, so lots of time to work outside :)

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. I’m sure that a with most birds - geese tend to be happy with their own company. As an electrician I’m sure that you have / will develop many ingenious gizmos to make keeping chickens easier that I hope you will share with us all.

Best wishes
