I'm fairly new to the chicken thing. I have been reading posts for about the last 2 weeks. I have been able to find alot of great information. Thanks to all of you that share your know how.
We just started our flock about 2 weeks ago. The first chickers were 3 white leghorns and 3 gold sex-links. Then we just had to get more, so we added 2 buff orpingtons, 2 black sex-links, and a few days later added one Amaruacuna EE and one RIR. We were in the process of building our coop and found two hens already laying and took them as well. One was a buff Orpington and the other was a red sex-link. I have now got our coop 98 percent built and painted and the chicken run done. Who would have thought we would have dumped as much money into this as we have? So far we are enjoying it and the kids really seam to be having fun with it. I look forward to more info and insight in the future and hope to post pics of our chickens and coop soon.

Yeah, chickens can actually be as expensive a hobby as GOLF!

Much more rewarding IMO, though!

Welcome from one newbie to another. I just joined yesterday. Love chickens too!! Once you have them, I don't think you ever really re-coop (pun intended) all of your startup money.

See ya around!
