Tia is approximately 3 years old. We have no idea what her breed is. Not sure exactly when she laid her last egg, but certainly before Monday of last week.
We haven’t been keeping her enclosure completely dark but can certainly try that. How does that help? We have given her Calcium Citrate mixed in water.
How does the scrambled egg help? We can certainly try that.
Hopefully she'll feel better soon
I've read about the "production" breeds having reproductive problems after the age of 2yrs, I stick with the Heritage Breeds cause I have Pets with Benefits
She looks like maybe a new hampshire red or a golden comet hen. Also, one of my hens started acting sick a few weeks ago, I gave her some save a chick vitamins and electrolytes for the water and that helped, also put some fresh oregano either in the water alternating with the save a chick or chop it up and sprinkle it on her food and in scrambled eggs. Good luck keep us postedThis is a picture of Tia. Any idea what her breed is ... ?
Well, she’s been eating today and had not eaten for several days. She is standing some but then readjusts and lays back down, but she hadn’t stood in several days either. We have wondered if perhaps she ate something that made her sick. How is she doing? Fingers crossed she can pull through this one!![]()
Poor Tia. She definitely does not feel well by the looks of her in the photo. Is her crop emptying properly and is her abdomen bloated with fluid? Is she still carrying g good muscle on her breast?
Keeping her quiet & in the dark will prevent her from trying to lay. You don't want that and if she's a "production" breed, they do start having reproductive issues which I strongly think is her problem. The scrambled eggs is nutrition & high in protein/vitamins.Hopefully she'll feel better soon

Well, this morning when my husband went down she’d eaten all of the food we’d left for her so he added more to her bowl. At lunchtime the LCM went to check on her and I heard her say, “You’ve eaten all of your food again!!!” She’s took her outside to see if she’d try to stand, walk or to peck around a bit.How is she doing? She did stand a few times but she’s tucking her bottom down. So, I’d think she is trying to lay an egg. It’s very hot here in Alabama today (91 and solid sunshine). She started panting so we brought her back inside where it’s cooler and darker.
