Hi Hannah. Since you have yet to build your coop I have a suggestion for you and hubby. That is make sure you build it strong with some deep concrete footings with 4x4's on 4 foot spacing as I know nearly every other spring you can expect 100mph straight line winds from random pop up thunderstorms. I lived just south of Lake Texhoma for quite a few years of my life, also plan for those massive rain events I lived through a storm that dropped its first 4 inches of rain in just 30 minutes up there back in mid-early 80's.

They enjoyed scratching around for a little bit while I cleaned their cage.

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestions. There have definitely been some extreme winds, not to mention nearby tornadoes! Hubby is building it super sturdy. I’m anxious for it to be finished so we can tweak it and get moved in. (:
