New Here

:welcome

Hi Beth, nice to have you here! Starting off small with 3-4 birds is a good way to find out if raising poultry is right for you. Make yourself at home and if you have questions, always feel free to ask (the Search Forums tool is handy too).

Hello Beth and welcome to BYC! I totally agree with @DobieLover, return the pre fab coop in the box now. You will regret it. Go to HD and get a small shed or a shed kit, preferably wood. Check out the forum on coop building here and get advice from your fellow chicken keepers in New Hampshire. I'm almost in NH and converted an existing shed on my property into a chicken coop. You'll need something sturdy that can withstand the snow and ice AND the plethora of predators.
