(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Have had chickens for a year and a half. Ducks and geese for a year.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
15 or so adults
(3) What breeds do you have?
Light Brahama, Jersey Giants, Black Copper Marans, Ayam Cemani, Crevecoeur (chicks), Appenzeller Spitzhauben (chicks)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Spending time with them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I show and do performance events with my dogs. I also have goats I planned to show, before Covid, and a pet pig.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm on disability, but was an RVT that did emergency and critical care. I recently moved to help my mom care for my 90 year old grandpa.
I seem to be drawn to rare/unique breeds. I have a Beauceron, 4 Pyrenean Shepherds, 3 Harlequin Pinschers and a Karakachan LGD. I'm hoping to add San Clemente Island Goats to my herd of French Alpine and Nigerian Dwarfs. I have Muscovy, Welsh Harlequin, Ancona and Cuyoga ducks. As well as Sebastopol, Buff and Toulouse geese.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC while doing searches.
I joined with the hope someone can help me with an issue.
