New here

Hello everyone.
I'm new here, and I'm glad to have found this forum. I don't have a flock yet, and have never owned chicks. So this is new territory for me, but I'm not intimidated, and I'm looking forward to the experience. I'm in the planning phase for my coop, and right now I want to make sure take into consideration as much I can before I begin construction. After my coop is finished, I'll order my chicks (most likely from my in-town Tractor Supply).

I recently retired early from the rat race of DC, and settled in an absolutely picturesque rural community surrounded by Amish neighbors--far from DC! I hope to create my little slice of heaven, detaching from tech, and rediscovering my true humanity in a world gone crazy; call me a luddite.

I hope to learn as much as I can from all of you seasoned mother hens, and contribute whenever I can.
What an awesome intro. I am so exited for you to find peace and get back to what matters. We too left the rat race and big city 6 years ago and decided to move to rural village in the great plains. I knew I could have my slice of sustainability with chickens. I love having them and I spent weeks just designing coop and watching You Tubes on them.
YOU WILL LOVE THEM ! They have such crazy antics and differing personalities. And what a bonus to get the little cackle berries they leave me. It's fun finding out what they like favorite treat etc. Enjoy!.
