Glad to meet you. Chickens are so fascinating and charming, aren't they? I think your kids will have fond memories as well as you guys. And good for you for supporting monarchs - they definitely need the support! I suppose you grow lots of milkweed? I was astonished when my chickens mowed down and ate all the milkweed (and everything else) they could reach from their pen! It's dreadful tasting stuff and I was afraid they had poisoned themselves. But they seemed just fine. The only thing they haven't wanted to eat was pokeweed - they do seem to have some sense.
