New here

Hi all, my name is Linda. We inherited 3 chickens from our neighbors rather abruptly and have zero experience 😬, we’ve had them for a week and they are still alive! So many questions! Do they eat mice😳😳 as they have caught 2 already! Didn’t stick around to see what they did with them. We live in Wisconsin and are concerned about wintering them safely. I don’t even know what type hens they are, just know they will start laying soon. Looking forward to learning to care for these pretty girls.
Welcome to BYC!! Chickens are omnivores, and I have seen BOs in my flock chase after and eat mice!

:frow Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of chicken keeping! They will steal your heart. Fair warning: chickens are addictive! There is a condition called chicken math, so it's advisable to build for about twice or three times as many as you think you are going to want! There are so many beautiful breeds, three is just not enough! (I have over twenty and am casting lustful eyes at the catalog again! 🤣) Enjoy your flock and ask all the questions you want, we're here to help.
Thank you! We are in process making their coop larger. We live in the city so our max is five. We’ll see how the winter goes with these three ladies before I add a couple more. I too have been looking at other beauties😉
