Hey there everyone, really glad I found this forum as its already been a huge help!
I'm new to chickens and quails, but I've been in to birds for many years ever since we saved a baby mockingbird after ouir cat thought it would be the perfect gift back when I was little.
Currently I have one gambel quail that my mom found at her school earlier today. Unfortunately people had found some adults that were dead around campus this morning and then a bit later this one was found huddled up in the girls bathroom all alone. They put him in a box with a blanket and he kept calling out while they held the box outside but no adults came around or babies. So I've been watching him ever since she brought him home as I know the most about birds and I needed something to look after to stave off the boredom of being home from college for summer. I gave the local rescues a call and they've said they'd get back to me or just said they couldn't because his chances of survival all alone aren't great. So either one of those places will call me back and say they can help it, or I'm gonna be learning a whole lot to keep this precious thing alive.
Besides that, I love animals in general and always have since I was little. Music movies take up a ton of my free time and I've probably spent way more than I'll ever admit on those hobbies.
Right now I've got 2 other pets (technically 3). A 7 year old miniature Schnauzer and yorkie mix who thinks he's the toughest thing on earth, a 17 year old must from the pound that we rescued when he was just 1, and technically a cat that we adopted as a kitten who has now decided he wants to live at the neighbors house since their cat is his best friend. Unfortunately our mut has an enlarged heart and kidney failure so we don't know how much longer he has. He's still clearly full of life and wants to keep living, so unless things take a bad turn, we'll keep loving him.
