Was raised with chickens until I was 11. Got the first chickens of my own last year.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
13. Intended to have 4 but bought 6 originally. We lost 2 over the winter so bought 3 to replace them. Then lost 3 more due to coyote so we bought 4 to replace the 3 we lost. Then bought 4 more to have white eggs (all others were brown layers), then lost a chick so got 2 more to replace it. Chicken math is real.
(3) What breeds do you have?
1 Welsummer (1 yr), 3 Dominant Copper (11 wk), 4 Novagen brown (6 wk), 4 Leghorns (5&6 wk), 1 Light Brahma (5 wk)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
love fresh eggs, and chickens each have their own personality. Leghorns in particular are very comical.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, quilting, knitting, and restoring old cars
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
No kids, 1 dog, 3 cats and 1 husband. Work as a chemist at a pharmaceutical company.

but yes chicken math as well as duck math and even Goose math are very real lol welcome to BYC!
