Hi everyone. I’m new here and new to raising chickens. I have 4 awesome chickens. I don’t know if I got any roosters. Since we got them from my sons kinder class in May. He got to see them from an egg and watched them hatch. So then that started our awesome adventures of being chicken parents.
Here are the questions it asked I figures this was a good starting point.
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes I am new to chickens. I’m so excited to have my chicken finally out side. It’s been hot so I was afraid to let them out. But I believe we have a good plan. Partly why I’m here to ask questions. And hopefully have my chickens live out their full life.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now I have 4 chickens. I would love to get more some day. But let’s start off with 4.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have no idea what breeds I have. I believe I have three different breeds. I tried looking it up but I don’t know what to ask. Haha. We got them from my sons school they were learning about eggs and hatching and we said yes we will take the chicken after. So here we are
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
My favorite part so far is watching how excited my kids get when they see the chickens. I love that they get to grow up learning how to care for animals!!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I home school my kids. And love to crochet and go to church.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 2 dogs. So trying to make sure the dogs don’t scare the chicken out side is another fear of mine. A reason why I’m here too. So I can get help in all things chicken.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I googled search. And joined right away so that I can ask question. I loved how people asked questions and others answered. I couldn’t really find my question I had so I joined so that I can ask!
