(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes I am new to chickens. I do not "yet" have the chickens or a coop "yet" This will be one of my very first projects once I buy my new house and land.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have zero but hoping to start with about 5-6 for now..
(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm interested in Silver Lace Wyandotte, French Copper Moran, Olive Eggers, Sussex, and Ameracauna's
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I just can't wait to have a new adventure with my daughter. We have desired to raise chickens for egg consumption for a few years now.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We enjoy anything outdoors from camping, fishing, soaking up the rays, swimming ect..
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 5 kids with 3 still at home. We recently lost their father in November and just signed a contract to buy a house with some land. We can finally have chickens!!!!!! We'll be moving in, in about 30 days.
We have 2 dogs, an older boy pit mix named Maverick and a toy/mini schnauzer puppy who's about 9 months old named Rosie. My 11 year old daughter also has a pet guinea pig. We have previously owned pet bunnies too. I am a public education and decided to go back to school to finish my degree in special education/ early childhood.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? A neighbor friend of mine had previously told me about it and I decided to join so I can start learning more things.
