Hello! I just moved from inside city limits to outside city limits with just over 2 acres. I'm a mom of 4 with another on the way. I am very interested in getting some egg laying chickens. I have no idea where to get started! I have a shed that I'm hoping to convert to a chicken coop. Other than that, I'm at a total loss. I have been to the learning center but still feel over whelmed.

Any advice would be appreciated! :D

Welcome to BYC. You are in the right place to have all you questions answered. I am still new to chickens, but have received so much help here and I know you will too. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to BYC

I think a good place to start is how many chickens you want and what breed(s), then you'll need to think about a coop and run, unless you are free ranging them. There's some great info in the Coops and Breeds sections. Picking a breed can be tricky, so most of us end up with one or two of each LOL. As you go into each section you will see blue "sticky" threads on top. Those are very handy threads with shortcuts to notable information on each section, from raising chicks to feeding and housing them. Under Frequently Asked Questions you'll also find some general chicken questions answered.
So have a read and if you have more questions or need advice on anything just shout, we're here to help!
