New hew and to chickens!

Hi all. I’m new to the great chicken family and love it. Started in February with 3 and now at 5. Slowly adding room for more and got husband onboard. Now the bad! We have mites. Just treated but have eggs on feathers and don’t know what to do from here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I put diatomaceous earth down before bedding, add it and wood ash to dust bathing area. If they are on their legs Vaseline smothers the mites. I also scatter herbal mixture around the coop to deter insects, including fleas and mites. I also spray the walls and roost with Permethrin. I close up the coop, keep birds out while spraying and while it dries. Maybe an hour.

We did that last Friday and dipped them all in permethrin 10 mixture

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

DE will do nothing to treat or deter mites. Permethrin will kill mites but not the eggs.

The standard protocol for treating mites is to strip down all bedding from the coop and burn or double bag it. Then spray all coop surfaces with permethrin spray diluted to "premises" concentration paying particular attention to the places where wood meets wood. Let dry and bed with fresh bedding. Treat all birds with permethrin diluted to "direct application" to poultry concentration.

Repeat all of the above in 7 days to kill what hatches out of the eggs that survive the treatment.
