Hi - I'm new to chickens but am enjoying it a lot. I ordered my first three hens - one baby died - so we bought another at a feed store. She's about a week behind. After reading many pages here on genders though I'm starting to think my easter egg chicken is a roo. She-he is bigger than the rest and the comb is redder, bigger and more developed. Not standing up yet though. The chicken does have the best feather development though- but since my are different breeds, it's hard to say how she-he compares to others.

When I can post pictures I'll post some in the gender forum to get some expert opinions. So far, I can see that this is a wonderful website that will give me tons of advice and info. Thanks for being here!!!

from north central wahington! It can be trickier to tell what sex a chicken if you are unfamiliar withy the the breed at that age, esp. if you do not have other chicks his/her age to compare! Definately post pics in the what breed/gender section and see what kind of answers you get!
