Welcome. I am in the same boat as you....but red-shouldered hawks - too many, and too many stray dogs. My advice after making many mistakes is go big with your coop and run, many of us convert sheds by adding insulation above the roosting bars, adding nesting boxes and of course roosting bars. As far as the run, use 1/2 inch hardware cloth and make an apron for digging predators. If you don't want to hardtop the entire ceiling of your run, for them to get sun, you can use hawk netting for the roof in some areas and have a hardtop in other areas.
