I'm a Louisianan, a feral cat caregiver, an animal lover and a voracious reader. I have a deep patriotic love for the USA and have a fond addiction to strong, black coffee and dark, dark chocolate.My heart holds a very special spot for veterans, members of law enforcement and other first responders, children, and animals.
I support our troops, back the badge, and report child and animal neglect and abuse when I see it.
Another group called me a nosey old woman. No, I keep to myself and mind my own business until I see harm inflicted on animals, children and our elderly. Sidney Sheldon, an American writer, stated my own thoughts, but ever so eloquently: "My heroes are those who risk their lives every day to protect our world and make it a better place - police, firefighters and members of our armed forces."
I’m in the process of assembling a chicken coop that FedEx delivered Saturday for my 10 mixed breed hen chicks who are 5 days old today. I ordered the mixed brown layer pack from Hoover’s Hatchery. They arrived safely and are just too adorable. They are already responding to me as I approach their brooder’s box.
I’m hoping to learn here all I’ve forgotten about chickens (I cared for an ill neighbor’s chicks and chickens until his health got so bad that he sold them), seek advice if needed and, of course, any additional tips on caring for my sweet little girls.
