We found out on Sunday that Betsy is a rooster, Cock-a-doodle-doo! He was 10 weeks. I have suspected for a while that he was a rooster, having a taller stance and being quite a bit more aggressive than the hens. Plus he had one scary looking beak! He has been re-homed at a landscape nursery where the chickens free range...hope he is happy there. Glad to have found him a home, but a bit sad that I'm down to four :-(

Don't be sad. Just as long as he has a new home god willing he will be okay!

thanks crazylilchick :)

Last night the girlies were so confused. Usually they get themselves to bed around 7:30, but at 8:00 they were still wandering around the pen saying cluuuuuck cluck cluck. Looking for their fearless leader to tell them to get to bed. Every time I'd catch one and put it in the coop she would come right back out repeating cluuuuck cluck cluck. Eventually they made it to bed. Poor chickies :)
