We just moved to Del Rio, Texas ! Its a boarder town. It gets hot here highs 106. We would like to have chickens and goats. I'm wondering about what predators I need to worry about. What is the best coop design for very hot weather. It gets very cold here too in the winter , it was 17 degree the other day, but then it went to 70 a few days later! Our land is mesquite trees and cactus. Not a lot of shade. Thanks for your help

Hello and welcome from Central Texas!

As far as predators, you have coyotes and coy\wild dogs, multiple species of snakes be very weary of the rattlers, lots of different species of Hawks and Eagles, and there have been mountain lion attacks in the Big Bend area a couple of hundred miles from you. You may even have racoons and Opposums if you are close to a wooded area or Lake Amistad.

(Some even believe in the Chupacabra! LOL)

Well , that sure is a lot! My chicks come in a few weeks, and the goats soon after. I better get started on predator proofing! Are you doing anything special to your coop for the heat?
