Welcome to BYC. When my son was very young, "they" tested him and felt he should be in a special school(very expensive) because he was low functioning. By that, they put toys out for him and then said he flunked because he paid attention to the toys and not the testers. What a sham.

My son ended up being in gifted classes in school and in college was noticed at "career day," by a head hunter (??) and whisked off to the 'MOTHER SHIP<" for an interview.
He ended up interning for two summers there and was hired as soon as he finished college (his intent). He is a programmer and engaged to be married.

I believe no one "KNOWS" a child better than their parent(s).
