We currently have four chickens, which we bought as chicks this spring. These are our second set of chickens. We got our first two about fifteen years ago when we lived in coastal California. A few years after that we moved and gave them away to someone with hens who were willing to take in ours.

The hens are a Welsummer, a Welbar, a Cream Legbar, and a blue-laced Barnevelder. The first three have similar coloring, but can be distinguished. The following picture shows the Welsummer and the Barnevelder.

My wife and I have been living in Washington for about two years with our cat. We have a daughter who recently graduated from college and lives in that college town in another state.

When we originally had chickens, I sometimes searched the forums on BYC, but never joined or posted ... like this.
