I am the proud new owner of 8 Golden Comet pullets. We've had them now for 5 weeks. We picked them up from TSC just a few hours after they arrived in the store, so I'm guessing they were only a few days old (?).
We just got the coop/run/tractor to the point where they can live in it, so they've been outside for the past few days. We still have a few modifications to do, but we're pretty happy with it so far. I found backyardchickens when researching chickens and looking for chicken tractor designs.
This is still so very new to us, but I've visited this site frequently and have found a ton of great information.
We primarily got the chickens for a supply of fresh eggs and to give our kids the "farm" experience. We live in Amish country so we see a lot of farms around and my daughter says she wants to be a farmer when she grows up, lol.
We have two daughters, a son, a dog, a cat and now 8 chickens. Oh, and the butterfly larvae MIL got the kids for Easter, lol.
