We just got our Hovabator Genesis set up. The temp always between 99.5 and 100.0. We tried it at first without any water in it and the humidity dropped to 22%. We filled the #1 channel like it says to do and the humidity went up to 56 and is holding there. Is this too high for the first 18 days? We're going to be setting eggs Saturday so we are hoping to get it evened out before then. Thanks

What's your climate like where you are?

I don't use a hydrometer in my Fan added LG- I have temp to worry about already.

In here in FL I 1/2 fill the first channel and refill EOD (every other day) till the week of lockdown, then I fill it completely so it usually last 3 days w/o refill.

The day of lockdown I fill both channels- the amount of water in a channel in an incubator will only matter if it drys up- the surface area of water touching the air is what causes the humidity.

Filling it or half filling it just changes the amount of times you have to add more water.

My hatches so far are 72-88% and some of those on shipped eggs.

I have 12 in due to hatch 25th, two are clear from day one. (my 2nd rooster is well over four, the head rooster is four this year...)

its a little bit high throughout the first 18 days of my hatch i was able to keep humidity between 40 and 50%... i had it like this and i just had a 90% hatch! good luck!

Thanks!
Maybe it will even out.
I live up here in Maine and this time of year it is very humid. I though that perhaps the ambient humidity would keep the incubator where it should be but it didn't.

I have a hovabator that does the same thing. I have good hatches though. Gloria Jean
