new intro to the flock

added a smaller sized hen ( 6 weeks?)to a flock of 18 week hens and 1 rooster....hens are all chasing it and picking at it...starting to be not so bad anymore but keeping an eye on it....why is this and will it stop and they get used to each other or its just not meant to be?

It's really hard on a singleton introduced to an established flock. Keep an eye on things to be sure they are not actually injuring the new one. Additional feed and waterers are a help for the new one so that it can get to something while the others are elsewhere.

It'll go on as long as necessary for the new one to get either assimilated or killed.

they seem to have accepted her....still peck here and there but all is getting better...the rooster is her buddy..lol
