Hello everyone! My name is Mary Lou and I am new to backyard chickens! I am in the research and preparation phase of owning chickens. We are working on our coop and fenced run. Soon we will be ready to get some chickens. I look forward to talking with you all and sharing stories!

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre
https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

For what its worth, getting point of lay pullets (4 months + old or a bit older) is a more gentle learning curve than caring for day old chicks (and you get eggs sooner). Further down the road, chicks are fine as you will have built up more experience.
