New Introduction

Oh, so beautiful! This land is great. So how did the introduction of the 2 roosters go? Everything ok? Of course you don't mind if the hens chase the roosters, right? That may happen for awhile. I have 4 roosters now. The main rooster is Harvey. The hens love him and fight each other to roost next to him at night! 2nd rooster is Jethro. He has one hen very dedicated to him, she follows him everywhere. I have two juveniles, Greybeard and Bill. I'd like to rehome Bill and Jethro. I have about 40 hens. The hens still put Greybeard and Bill in their place at the bottom of the pecking order, so funny to see! They run! Again, it's nice to have you here. Please report on the state of rooster integration!!!:D
So the mighty update. All seems to be well with the roosters and hens. The hens are keeping the roosters in their places and they seem to be just as happy as they were before. The roosters are now putting themselves away at night....so we don’t have to chase them in. They were staying away from the hens, in the back of the coop. I’m happy to say they are now perching up front with the hens. I really think the roosters are now a bonded pair, since having been dumped & surviving together. They never leave each others side. I was able to pet Mick last night. Granted, his head was facing away from me, but he still didn’t freak as I stroked his back. That’s a win for me. They have yet to chase us when we’re in the coop or out in the pen with them. I’m hoping it stays that way.
The downside.....mites! We dusted the roosters a few times before adding them in, but somehow, the dreaded mite has invaded the coop. Luckily, we know how to handle it & will be doing everything we can to rid the flock of them asap.
It’s a sigh of relief that are hens are happy still and the roosters are playing nicely. Btw, I love the names you have for your roosters.

Hurray! Hurray, I'm so glad to hear things are going well with the integration of the roosters. Sounds like they are fitting right in and they are also respectful of you! A great win for you! I'm celebrating with you!
