I have 3 chickens. They are all almost a year old. My most dominant Welsummer stopped laying about a month ago now. She was previously laying 1 almost every day.
She is not broody (My silkie currently is) and is otherwise acting just fine. She is eatting, drinking, perky, crop acting appropriately and shows no signs of stress. I have not had any of them molt yet, but I don't see her loosing feathers or anything.
Should I be concerned or is she just taking a break? We are in Texas so it has been pretty hot, but has cooled off with some rain the past week. In the extreme heat they were getting lettuce floating in ice water and some frozen watermelon to help cool down, but otherwise just have oyster shell, grit and chicken food. They are in a run but free range about 45 minutes per day when we are out with them (Lots of predators around here)
Just wanting to know if this extended period is normal or not or if I am missing something. Thanks!
