I've been using BYC as a resource for years and finally joined last month.
I work at a small feed store and keep chickens. My family calls me a plumage slut because I just have to have every kind ever in my flock, which is hard to manage when the run is only so big. We fluctate from 5-15 chickens pretty regularly and are on the high end of that as of next week. (5 hens, 7 newly hatched chicks, and 6 show bantams on their way home in a week)
I also live with two dogs. One is a soft mouthed border collie who likes to nuzzle and lick the chickens as if they were her pups. The other is a naughty hound/herding/terrier mutt who thinks they are chew toys especially made for him. Mine is the bad dog, but I love him anyway.
I also cook a lot, spin and knit, camp, participate in the renaissance faires, and tend my wild garden. Recently I have been learning about herbalism and have been putting that to use in my own diet as well as that of my chickens.
I'm looking forward to much more partcipation here on BYC!
Cheers!
