I know this is a long shot, but here goes: I am moving back to the Somerset County area of NJ from Colorado. My mom is sick and needs my help, so I will be living with my parents in a residential area that does not allow chickens. I am looking for a farm somewhere within driving distance where I can keep my three chickens, and would be able to visit them. If they are close enough, I can do all of the care myself (my parents live in Basking Ridge). I would be willing to pay a small fee for chicken board and supply a separate (temporary) rabbit hutch coop for them if you have some extra space, or know someone who does!
My little rooster who I hatched from an egg traveled from NJ to CO with me, and I just can't bear to part with him. He is definitely not a normal chicken. I am actually in the process of writing a children's book about his adventures, and I don't think abandoning him or sending him to a stew pot would make a very good ending
I guess I should add that I have lots of experience caring for all sorts of animals (in particular horses, but also cows, chickens, pigs, dogs, etc), so if you needed any work done or farm sitting, I would certainly be able to help you out that way, and could provide references.
Thanks for reading...any leads would be really appreciated! Since my mom is sick, this is all so last minute that I am really panicking right now, trying to find a way to make this work.
