New Keets

Yes, keets are much more different then chicks.

I have a few chicks which have been injured or otherwise were not able to stay out with the flock that have joined my few keets inside. At about 2 weeks old the chicks are extremely friendly, they'll back away at first when I put my hand in their cage and then run right up to my hand. However the keets at 2 weeks old run and cram themselves into one corner. Silly birds.

At 8 weeks old though another set of keets is starting to trust me a lot more. They have much more room and feel more comfortable with me putting my hand in their brooder. They know I bring the food.

Of course, most guineas will be shy at least, but keets are especially. (You know what's funny, my 3 week old keets outside being raised by a hen are much less scared of my hand reaching into their cage then my 3 week old keets inside.)

I enjoy my guineas though, and I mainly like to just sit and watch them. They are such interesting birds. I love how they stretch their neck out as far as it will go when they're investigating something new.

Well, I must say, the little keet with the foot problem died. I'm sorta bummed, but glad, it was having such problems getting up and I'd find it struggling to get off its back.
So I knew it was not thriving. The other 3 are a hoot, I can't believe how quick they are.
Thank you for sharing your experience Debbie its really interesting as I've never owned these buggers before!
