Hey there-

I've been stalking the website for a few years now for tips, tricks, and ideas on how to build a coop and raise a flock and decided it was high time to contribute back. We decided this year to continue our quest of becoming more self sufficient in suburban Chicago and got 4 chicks to raise alongside our two year old daughter in hopes of giving her, and us, a better idea where our food comes. Plus, I just like having the little buggars around.

We bought an eglu, as we saw it as a safe investment if we ever wanted to jump ship, knowing that we could sell it very easily. Though, we saved some cash by not buying the run and building one ourselves. We now have 4 happy ladies that free range while we are all out playing in the backyard (which is frequently these summer days) and are happy in their new home sweet home/run. So far, so good and my family is having a ball - as well as all my neighbors. I look forward to continue to use this great resource and hopefully connect with some locals. Best, Heather
