Hello my name is Malek Brown this is my first time on a forum in general and i just wanted to introduce myself i am new and recently have started keeping poultry. My first experience was helping a neighbor who had chickens and i loved coming down and helping him whenever he needed it and he decided to get me 3 chicks . I raised them indoors for awhile and they were doing great until i attempted to introduce them to his flock . I first had them in a large metal dog cage in the coop but unfortunately a snake got in and ate the three of them ( i say snake because the door was locked and there was only a bunch of feathers left in the cage when i went to check on them no blood or anything). Since then i've just been helping with the hens he already had and i've been trying to hatch eggs with the little chickbator i got a year ago so im hoping to try to get back into poultry at the moment i have 2 eggs in the chickbator a dove and a few finches its a pleasure to meet you all

Welcome to BYC! So glad you could join!

I'm sorry to hear about your chicks, I certainly hope your eggs hatch well! I've got some broody hens sitting on eggs right now, and I'm so excited!

Feel free to ask any questions, or just post fun pictures and stories.

Best of luck!

That is Ginger with her first chick, Jeremiah (a cross-breed). We lost her to a predator a few years ago, unfortunately. But we do have another broody silkie, Princess. She is partridge colored.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about the loss of the chicks. Good luck with the hatch!

Sadly, everything loves to eat chicken.

does anyone know how compatible a ringneck dove would be with a mourning dove?
