Today I was surprised by one of my goats giving birth. I am going to bottlefeed the kid, to try and prevent CAE.
Since I was not planning on having kids this early in the year, I want to make sure I haven't forgotten anything crucial...

I put Triodine-7 on her umbilical cord and I have colostrum supplement and milk replacer. I'm supposed to feed the kid every 4 hours, correct?

Is there anything else I may be forgetting? Vaccines or anything? And how long will it be before I have to disbud her?

I'll try to post pics later!

She should be disbudded as soon as you feel horn buds coming in (usually 3-7 days).

Her mom should have had a CD&T Vaccine 3-4 weeks before her due date. This counts as the kids first dose. When the kid is 3 weeks old it should have another CD&T vaccine. I think the kids get another dose of CD&T on week 6 too.

Good Luck with her. Be sure to check out BYC's sister site www.BackyardHerds.com for more goat info.
