We had a snotty cat. Thousands of dollars at the vet that first year.

Seriously she would not touch canned food. Dry food worked for her.

Her snotty condition was due to never being fed meat based anything her first year of life.
Yeah....vegan and cat should not go together.

Poor thing only lived 10 years and was always snotty, vision impaired and had deformed legs from that vegan diet.

We did all we could for her.
Yes people should know what an animal needs to eat BEFORE getting any of that species.

We are down to one 17 year old cat now. This one can only handle wet food these days.

Hey, just wanted to post an update: Momo has been feeling so much better over the past few days

The vet where she was spayed saw her for free. They tried to prescribe antibiotics ("because she might have a secondary bacterial infection"), which I declined - she had been diagnosed with a viral respiratory infection, antibiotics were not needed.

They then prescribed a combination nsaid/congestion medication (basically cold medicine safe for cats), and that worked really well. As soon as her nose cleared up and her throat stopped hurting, her appetite came right back.

I also looked up the medication they prescribed and you can actually buy the congestion component over the counter. It's called Guaifenesin and a the RX called for about 3mg per day if anybody wanted to know. You can buy it on Amazon, but it comes as a 400mg dose, which is way too much for kitties, so definitely get it dosed correctly from a vet.
