I'm really confused on age of laying hens. I have 4 hen's that are 26 weeks or so and 2 that are 17 weeks. The older ones have been giving me eggs for a couple weeks. On a typical day I get 2 blue/green and 2 olive however, yesterday I got 3 blue/green and 1 olive.

They don't change their egg colors so should I assume I have a new layer at 17 weeks?

You should be able to tell which of your younger birds it is by the color and plumpness of her comb.

Here are the two that it could be

Blondie

She has turned red recently, however I figure with her being a Buff Orpington that 17 weeks would be way too early.

This is Jet, as you can see it's hard to tell if she is getting really red. I have noticed her wattles are getting a lot bigger in the last couple weeks and she is getting wider in her fluff butt.

Oh my goodness... I'm an idiot. It would have to be Jet because Blondie will lay a brown egg!:th :smack
