It's 4 sq ft and 1 linear foot of roost space. Roost time is BRUTAL. And you need to have a large coop and LARGE run for when you have to lock them down due to predators, weather, vacations, etc.I believe the rule of thumb is 3 sq ft per chicken for night time roosting.

Hi, another reason you'll want to build a coop/run as large as possible is because you may very well want to add to your flock in the future. Build as large as possible!
That's more for our bantam breeds. It's 4 sq feet for the rest in the coop. We can support a lot more silkie chickens comfortably in our coop than our neighbor with brahmas can get in hers.Welcome aboard!
