New little Baby from TSC, RIP Sweet little chickie

Quote:
I am so sorry for your loss. I had the same thing happen to me with a hatched chick one of my WJG sat on. She came a little early and still had a little bit of the egg sac coming out when she got out of the egg. Well I never had that happen before and thought she would be fine. I put her back under her momma and when I came out to check on her she had a large bloody piece of membrane coming out of her rear end. I took her to my local family owned livestock supply and he cut it and we thought she would be fine. After a sleepless weekend for my daughter and I. She seemed to be doing quite well. I even wore a sports bra and let her sleep inside of that and I propped myself up on my daughters sofa so that way I wouldn't roll over on her and smush her. anyways she seemed fine and was eating and drinking so on Sunday afternoon I put her back with her momma and brother and sister or brothers or sister. She died on Tuesday morning.

You gave the little bird a chance and it was happy for its last moments. I am so sorry this has happened, because it is always hard to get past. I still cry about my "Lucky"

ChickenLady08. It is sad that you lost your little one. I have become so attached to the chicks I have that I can't stand the thought of getting rid of any of them. They are so cute and fuzzy and totally dependant on me right now for everything. A year ago I never would of thought that I would be hooked on chickens. Cats, dogs, goats, yes. But a bird??? I must be crazy. I just blame it on BYC.

My husband tells me that I better be careful bringing home the sick ones. (I did this once before). Maybe he is right, I would hate to bring home some disease to my birds. But the chick didn't look sick, just small and weak. I am just an old softie. I rescued a liter of kittens once and trapped the mom. Ended up with momma cat dying from feline distemper and me spending about 400.00 and a week of vacation to take care of some sick kittens. Sometimes no GOOD deed...

Thank you for understanding. It makes the world a friendlier place.
