1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?No I grew up on farm met my husband in high school married him after 25 - 30 years in city for his career we moved back home found us 10 acres I got me some chickens, ducks, and some goats which just had kids.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 21/ 3 roosters and 2 Guinea hens oh and I forgot to mention I 2 grey slate female turkeys.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Delaware, light and dark brahmas,Blue Polish and Cochin, Mottled Houdan
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? All their different personalities. We have this one place in some straw bales that the hens line up to use that nest. Crazy then when they are all done my yellow cat that has been keeping an eye on them goes down and lays on the eggs. Also of my Grandson and I get to have a egg hunt every day!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Crafts, camping, fishing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have told you quite a bit about the animals already. Been married 34 years to my high school sweetheart. We have 6 kids 3 boys which my oldest is 32 and the youngest is 24. My middle child will be forever 16 thanks to suicide that is not talked about enough. We then adopted 3. 2 girl and a boy. I will tell you when got did not give me boys I should of just listened! Girls are crazy drama always a problem. I don’t know how my Mom did it with 4 girls.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
found it just by scrolling through bird sites. I have been ripped off twice Jade Johnson and Shella Fiona. I am looking for a male Turkey slate grey if possible but if not that is ok and a male silkie also a female. I live in Springfield,Illinois
