Hi my name is Jade and I’m new ... new to this group and new to ducks. I adopted 3 Indian Runners that were needing to be re-homed when they were 4 months old. I have two females and one feisty male.

I would love some advice with one of my laying females that is having difficulties with multiple eggs getting egg bound. I’ve learnt the method to help get things moving and even with extraction but I’m need assistance on the reason behind it. She is on the same diet as my other female that lays every day without issue and I’m providing duck feed pellets with a calcium supplement.
She is the favourite of the drake. Could this be the issue? Causing her stress?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, and welcome to BYC. Have you considered separating the drake from the flock ?
I have her separated today but didn’t want to break them up if I was mistaken about the cause. Do you think it could be beneficial? Would you suggest something short term or more long term? And how would I house them apart?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Try penning him near the girls for a week or two and see if things improve with your girl.
Because sometimes the boys are a little too amorous in the spring, or when they are teenagers, or when you put fresh swimming water in the pen, etc.

By June or July things might calm down. But if you have had her a while and this goes on all the time, this may just be her.
