(1) I am new to chickens! First received my chicks in the mail 2 years ago. I was lucky wnough to find a same breed rooster nearby and now I am hatching eggs and my first chicks just hatched yesterday!
(2) 8 hens, 1 rooster, and some new born chicks (still waiting to see how many)

(4) I love chickens for the entertainment, they enable me to be more self sustainable, and they are more like pets than farm animals.
(5) other hobbies: Brewing beer and studying chemistry
(6) Just me, my wife, and our little girl along with our two dogs.
I am a Metrologist by profession (the science of accuracy and measurements) and previously worked for years as a Chemist.
(7) i found BYC during my research on hatching chickens and felt this was a great community to join and learn from/share knowledge.
