Welcome :welcome Nice to have you here. Many different opinions out there.... Raised coop? Walk in? Size? Climate? DLM is popular but not everyone does true DLM. Some type of vinyl, stall mats, or other types of impermeable surface covered in pine shavings or other compostable material is another option. Read some articles in the learning center, look at the pros and cons for your situation. Sometimes you have to try different things or make some modifications. My first coop and run were not chicken or user friendly for long term. I tried a few different things, different coop and found what works well for me. :)
So DLM is diatomaceous earth right? Yes, I use it few times a year in coop & run... I may continue to use more frequently than that.... what types of vinyl OR impermeable surfaces do people use that's easy clean-up & long lasting inside coop that people use??

Thanks SOO much!
Nothing but the best for the gals :)

DLM is Deep Litter Method. You basically don't clean out the coop but instead put down a thick layer of bedding that will compost with the manure. It needs to be mixed every day or so.

I had vinyl in my last coop. The chickens managed to peel up the top layer of several of the tiles.
I used 2 coats of porch and floor paint in my new coop and it is holding up well but I do not use DLM any longer. I use poop boards with sand/PDZ under the roosts and thick layers of pine shavings on the coop floor and wood chips in the run.
